WiseEclipse

I am just going to talk about this briefly.  WiseEclipse is an addon that allows the last Starfire in your Lunar Eclipse to proc Solar Eclipse.  It does this by canceling your Lunar Eclipse buff right after the last Starfire (based on cast time).

Using this addon almost feels like hacking - it's not, but it's so good that it seems that way.  This greatly improves your dps by increasing Eclipse uptime, I highly recommend it.

The best download I've found is here:

Search for WiseEclipse.  If you don't want to use an addon, there's also a macro you can use for the same effect.  You will need something to open a .rar file if you don't have it, I use WinRar.

I found this because of Hamlet on TMR in this post - I don't know if he wrote the addon (it's unclear) but he deserves credit for the EJ post and the macro.

  3. I didn't write the addon--someone who posts on the EJ forums took my macro and turned it into an addon. The only substantive difference is that the macro only runs when you press the button (obviously), but the addon performs the check to cancel Eclipse anytime the event UNIT_SPELLCAST_SUCCEEDED fires. This makes the addon much more consistent.

As a neat demonstration of how powerful this can be, by the way, here's a log from today:
    http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/ATVmY1wGjnFXsNRj/sum/damageDone/?s=5724&e=5825

It's Anub'arak 10-man done with no burrows--so just a straight 100 second burn. I didn't actually beat my guildmates by that much; I was the only one Bloodlusted, but that's not the point of this link.

Note the 100% Starfire crit rate. That's not some kind of extreme luck. If you're at 100% Lunar crit, and it's a stationary fight with no DPS interruptions (so you can WiseEclipse every transition), you never cast a non-crit Starfire. It's fun.

  4. I cannot get the addon to work. Perhaps I am downloading the wrong thing? I have a mac and I dont know if this matters... How do I properly install it?

  5. I don't know where it is on a Mac, but there should be a World of Warcraft folder where your game is installed. If you use a shortcut to start the game, you should be able to look at that and see the folder location.

    Then you will navigate to:
    ...\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns

And install WiseEclipse in that folder.

If you can't get that to work, a google search for "WoW Mac Addon" found a couple of utilities that look like they can install addons for you - I haven't used them but WoW Addon installer from apple.com and WoWMatrix both look legitimate.

  6. Thank you for your insight; however, I do know where to place my add-ons. Perhaps I was not specific enough. The problem that I am encoring is related to the download I receive. When I down load the file all I receive is a readme file about the program and what changes have been made to it. There isn’t the normal add-on like program that I can place into my wow folder. I use the Curse application at the moment and WiseEclipse is not available at this time. I will do more research and see if I can find a mac forum answer to my problem. Thank you again for you aid.

  7. Oh sorry, I misunderstood.

I retested the download link, and I one folder (WiseEclipse) with three files:
    ReadMe.txt
    WiseEclipse.lua
    WiseEclipse.toc

I got the addon to work just by copying the WiseEclispe folder into my Interface\Addons, so I'm not sure what the problem is with a Mac.
